July 16th 7:45am
I woke up at 7 am and had a small Israeli breakfast before heading to flam for a wine tasting. I love the breakfasts in Israel.
July 16 9:30am
I got off to a late start. I ordered a cab for 8:15, but "because of traffic" it didn't arrive until 9am. I love taxi's because it gives me a chance to polish up my hebrew. They are the only people in Israel that are happy to speak in hebrew with you, everywhere else as soon as I say a word in hebrew they answer me in english. Interestingly the driver that came told me that just last week he drove around Freddy Levy, also a player in the Israeli wine industry. Freddy is from France and imports wines such as Ella Valley and Hevron Heights wines into the U.S.
Today's plans are to visit Flam, Ella Valley, Katlav, Castel & Tepperberg. Its a lot to do in a day, so we will see how much I accomplish.
July 16 3:30pm I just finished visiting Flam, Ella Valey and Katlav. I am now on my way to Castel and we are very lucky because they just closed the road due to a forest fire. I will upload those pictures of the winery and forest fire very shortly. The cab driver told me that because there is no rain and it is hot, approximately 90 degrees F fires can happen. Photos will be uploaded on my way back to Tel Aviv in about 2 hours.

Katlav, Syrah, 2005: Oak-aged for 22 months, medium- to full-bodied, with traditional Syrah leathery, meaty and spicy notes highlighting red plum, cherry and cassis fruits. Drink up. Score 87. K
