I think the post above somehow omitted the text. That follows...
1. Arrive as early as possible so that you can start tasting wines before the crowd builds up
2. If you've come either entirely or primarily to taste wines, make up a list of those wines you want to sample long before arriving. Wandering around aimlessly kills time. Having a list helps
3. Regardless of whether you have come entirely or primarily to taste wines, decide in advance what your limit will be. If more than 10-12 wines, spit unless you want to get blotto. At any rate, if you do drink more than your usual amount be sure to travel by taxi or to have a designated driver.
4. If you have come both to taste wines and to sample some of the fare being offered, again decide whose food most appeals and focus on that. Avoid any foods that are too spicy or too sweet as those will harm your tasting ability
5. If you've come entirely to taste wines, plan on dinner afterwards. That can give you additional time for tasting and your dinner, wherever you choose that to be can add to the pleasure of the evening.
6. Under any circumstances make at least some kind of tasting notes. Notes that are written down go into long-term memory and will help you in the future. Mental notes go only into short-term memory and are soon forgotten.
7. Whatever...Enjoy!!!!!
