Are you man enough for a martini glass?

My drink of choice when I'm out on the town and not having wine (bars, with some exceptions, don't usually have much to offer in the wine department), is Gin & Tonic. After a couple G&T's though I was thinking, ok, let's step it up a notch with a martini. But I have to be honest, the prospect of sipping out of a martini glass in this bar gave me some hesitation.
Here I am in this Irish pub, most of these guys are swigging brews out of their pint glasses, am I going to daintily sip a martini out of this elegant glass? Will people think I'm some sort of dandy, looking down on them through my martini glass? I asked the bartender about getting the martini served in a G&T glass and he said that many guys have requested that. Guys, what do you think, would the martini glass discourage you from ordering one?

I'm not a big fan of martini glasses because of the shape of the glass. It is especially a problem in a bar where its crowded because someone is going to bump into you. One little bump and the martini will be all over you. When I'm at a bar I usually drink the beer out of the bottle instead of a mug just to be safe.

A waiter tried to serve my father-in-law his beer in a small martini glass in some Italian restaurant last night. We all looked at the guy like he was crazy and didn't realize we ordered a beer. My father-in-law asked for a different glass. I would have too. Very strange new fad.

Lee, that is bizarre about the beer in the martini glass, never heard of that. I would think that could get you killed in some parts of the country...
