Better with burgers than chicken
This wine was good with chicken but excellent with burgers! It made me appreciate the importance of pairing wines with certain foods. I recommend trying it.

Young and Spunky
This wine is young, spunky and amazing. When I opened up the bottle plum aromas burst out and filled the room. I stuck my nose into the glass to get a better sense of the aroma and almost fell over from the alcohol. Its 14.5% and that’s a lot for a wine, the standard is 13%. I was expecting this wine to be like most Australian Shiraz’s, a fruit bomb, but it is much more reserved (a good thing). The experience starts with a pleasing fruit profile of dark cherries and blackberries, then out of nowhere the fruit drops out , does a flip in your mouth and shows its oakiness. The finish is long (lasts a long time) and full of chocolate, butter and grapefruit. Wow what an experience!
The Dalton Shiraz is a food friendly wine, though to get the most enjoyment out of it you should be careful what to pair it with. My suggestion: brisket and a side of cherry-cranberry marmalade.

After loving the dalton merlot, I was really looking forward to this wine. I was told that this was peppery for a shiraz- exactly what i was looking for. But, it wasn't as complex or robust as I wanted. I would give it three stars. However, with 30% remaining in the bottle, I left the bottle for two days and came back to it. Massive! It was extremely peppery and robust. you must let this bottle breath.

Certainly the best Israeli shiraz I've tasted to date. Rich and fruit-forward, with good balance.

Wine is purple, almost black with a ruby edge. Plum and cherry on the nose with a hint of oak. Big, full mouth, velvety with so much fruit! Berry (black or straw, my opinion and my daughter's respectively), and plum with cherry on the finish. This wine is exploding with flavor - we want more!!

An unusually supple and smooth shiraz bursting with blackberry flavor. Could have packed more of a punch.

We loved this wine. Almost black in color, very peppery - full of flavor, strong shiraz aftertaste. The heavy body and 14.5% alcohol content tend to slow down consumption - not a bad thing. Drink with very full-bodied food. Next time I'm having it with barbecued steak.

I tasted this recently at the winery, and was somewhat disappointed. The wine has too much of an alcoholic bite, following recent trends with this variety. Perhaps the wine will integrate better after a year or two...

This is a robust, rich, fruity and fresh wine. It is one of the best new wines from Israel and compares favorably to Australian and California (Shiraz/Syrah/ Petite Syrah) wines. It is very drinkable now and should continue to be quite drinkable for the next 2-5 years. It is an excellent accompaniment with meats, hearty main dishes such as cholent, cous cous and good with cheeses as an appetizer or after the main meal with varieties of cheeses and salad. I really like this wine!

Hands down, the best Shiraz I have ever tasted. I hope the 2005 is as good as the 04!

One of the best Shiraz which I ever had. Not very heavy yet full of character. Let the bottle breath for a while before drinking.
