Hai The Patriots Merlot Reserve 2005
Smooth, easy but without personality. An acceptable table wine but rather uninteresting.

Had this at a friend's house. Had a decent nose and a good initial thrust of berries and tannins for about the first millisecond that the wine came in contact with the pallet. After that, it was unintegrated with, to me anyway, an unpleasant acidity. I would pass on this wine.

When buying this wine, I expected something somewhat similar to the Ella Valley merlot since it is made at the same facility, even if less polished and maybe a decent buy. I was too generous. The color was nice, but looked a little watery. The nose had an interesting combination of blackberries and cloves. It was a little thin in the mouth with some black pepper and not too much fruit and a little too much acidity. I wouldn't buy it again.
