General Information
The wildlife of ancient Israel is celebrated on the front labels of the Noah/Hevron Heights Tevel wines. This wine features a Cabernet-Merlot blend of 60 percent Cab and 40 percent Merlot. All grapes for this wine comes from the Judean Hills around Jerusalem and it has been barrel aged for 12 months in new French Oak. The Noah Tevel Cabernet-Merlot is Mevushal, O-U Certified and also under the supervision of the Badatz of Yoreh Deiah and the Rabbinate of Qiryat Arba and Hevron. The grapes used in this and the other Tevel wines have benefited from the warm sun of the Judean Mountains and the cool gentle breezes coming from the Mediterranean, allowing the fruit to reach its full potential. Great Wine
The wine has a light ruby color and on the nose you can detect cherries and
vanilla. I was expecting this to be a fruit bomb, instead I found that the fruit
was milder and the oak was more pronounced. It is extremely well balanced and
full of flavor. Although the wine is dry, the fruit and chocolate notes tend to
soften it up and make the Cabernet/Merlot very easy to drink. The aftertaste is
long and impressive with coffee, chocolate and mint notes. A great value!

I had the 2002 in a restaurant last year and loved it but the two 2004 bottles I have had in the last few months (now in April 2008) seemed past their prime. They had a strong minty taste at first and then leveled off into something watery and very ordinary.

The nose on this wine is the most interesting component. I smelled a hint of grassy peatiness rounded out by rich boysenberry. The flavors on the palate were not unique, and I thought the finish awkward. Overall, not a very impressive wine.

First note that the 2004 vintage is bottled by Noah Wineries under their Tevel lable. Second note that it is much better than the 2002 vintage in that it does not have the "off" aftertaste.

A strong nose with deep purple garnet color, mild tannins, if let to breath for 45 minutes to an hour.

With a very full bouquet, this wine also has a full berry flavor. However it may also be a bit off in the aftertaste. Take a little extra time in letting this wine breath.
