General Information
Israel's ancient soil and lengthy growing season provide the perfect environment to nurture fine Merlot grapes. Select grapes are hand picked before undergoing gentle pressing followed by 8 months of aging in French oak barrels. Recanati Merlot is medium-bodied and garnet-hued, with generous fruit aromas and lingering flavors of vanilla and red berries. Enjoy with grilled meats, chicken or turkey entrees, pastas and robust vegetarian dishes.

Showing concentrated and complex ripe currant, cherry and sweet oak aromas and flavors, this graceful wine is true to its variety and promises a long and generous finish.

This wine could be easily distinguished from other red wines. Highly recommend! I found very discernable aftertaste in this wine; blackberry, smoky, nutty.

This is a pleasant, relatively simple wine. It is well integrated, although I found it to be much sweeter that I would have expected. Overall, a good value for the money, and well recommended.

An excellent, very smooth wine. Velvety on the tongue. Very drinkable, perhaps even a little bland. This is however a wine that should please most everyone. There is some tannin so the wine should last for at least a few years. It develops a definite cherry taste, and a slight sweetness. There is also a white pepper taste, more of an aftertaste. The nose is oaky. This is pretty good. I give it an 89 or 90 out of 100. It could get better with time and be a 92-93.

Recanati Merlot 2004
A very pleasant merlot... smooth, good body, deep garnet, dry, lingering taste, very well balanced. This is an excellent wine... and a great deal considering the qualities exhibited.

As the owners of an award-winning inn, with a fine wine list, we have experienced many many wines. We tried this just to try an Israeli wine -- and were amazed. It was immediately our favorite. A medium bodied wine with great garnet color, not a huge nose, amazing fruits well balanced with tannin (not too much or too little of anything!), and a fine aftertaste that just goes on and on. All this for $15/btl? Wow! We cant beat it. And it's Kosher to boot! What's not to like?

Very subtle flavors and not much of a nose at all. Smells like herbs and then later develops a very slight smokey flavor. The Cabernet is much more interesting and smokey. This is still a very pleasing wine. The last glass was still very good. I give it a 90 out of 100.

This pleasant, medium bodied, garnet colored, international-style -- (i.e., it tastes like the grapes could have been grown anywhere in the world rather than from a very particular micro-climate) -- wine exhibits aromas and flavors of ripe cherries, currants, and blackberries, with hints of toasted oak and vanilla. The wine has mild, integrated tannins that help make it very food friendly and ready to drink now, but with the possibility of improvement with a little bit more age. Drink now through 2006, perhaps a little longer.
